The principal object of an audit is to express an opinion as to whether the financial statements give a fair and true view, and comply with relevant legislation and professional standards. This opinion gives assurance to the world at large that the directors or trustees have fulfilled their statutory obligation to prepare such accounts.


An independent examination is a kind of scaled down version of an audit, and consequently the examiner's opinion is expressed in more guarded terms.

At TEAM Audit we consider auditing to be much more than just a matter of legal compliance. An effective audit will help to identify and resolve potential problems in accounting systems and controls. It thus helps to ensure that reliable information is available on which to base management decisions. This is as critical for management itself as it is for outsiders such as banks or creditors who may use that information once it is in the public domain.
